Quickie Catch up! Spring is almost here!!

And just like that… Spring is right around the corner!!  A huge thank you to everyone this winter… another awesome season with tons of great groups!! Old friends, New friends, ducks and snow, laughs and eye rolls and way too much fun!!!  Thank you so much.  Spring is prep season for the Fistful and for next year’s birds… plus an awesome few weeks in the spring woods before we roll into fishing season!!  We are back on the water in early May… can’t wait to see everyone this summer!!!

 

Time for Ducks!

A huge Thank You to all of our charters this season… you guys/gals/and youngsters ROCK!!  What an awesome summer with tons of fantastic folks… thank you all!!  We wrapped up the last few days with yummy Mahi and now this is the time of year the FISTFUL gets a rest as we turn our attention to the birds.  Busy building, bushing, scouting, and prepping for our winter gang.  We will be back in the ocean mid-May… looking forward to seeing everyone in the Spring!!

Another Duck Season in the books!

What a crazy time this year’s waterfowl season turned out to be!  With insanely gorgeous weather our ducks made us work hard to find them but what a ton of fun when we all got together!   A huge thank you to ALL our hunters – waterfowl, bear, and upland birds (still going strong on Quail until the end of March!)… it is our awesome clientele that makes all the sweat, work, late nights and early mornings worth every minute and always memorable… Thank you.

 

As we plow into Spring the prep for next year is here and so are the Rockfish!!  Inland river trips are the table fare this time of year and the fish have been biting already!  Turkey season is just around the corner and you know who shows up after that – Mr. COBIA!!!

 

Thank you again to everyone… We are looking forward to next year already!!!

 

             

Winter Catch Up!

We have had one of the busiest and most fun winters!  Exhausting but crazy rewarding, super fun, non-stop and never a dull moment 🙂  A huge thank you to all our hunters… you guys are family to us and we cannot tell you enough how much we appreciate and love you!! We miss everyone already 🙁  We kicked off the season out west and then got down to business back home with waterfowl, upland game hunts, winter boat maintenance and continuing construction on the new lodge (completely restored 1850 farmhouse…almost 3 years of work and finally getting to the end!).  Our lodge is scheduled to be up and running for turkey season and we are really excited to stop building and start enjoying it!  Upland Game Preserve Season continues until the end of March and we have had a blast starting up this new adventure!  We had a soft opening last season and with private hunts this year we are well on our way – we still have some availability this year of anyone is interested in getting some shooting in before it’s back to the water… Fishing will start rolling next month with inland Rockfish and we start chasing Turkeys in April… then… COBIA season!!  We are starting to fill days in May and June for the Fistful so please give us a call if you have days you want to save… it won’t be long before the winter is gone and sunny warm fishing days return!! Give us a shout!!

         

Ducks!

The word of the day is DUCKS!!  Things have been busy busy the last 2 months… never-ending prep work and upkeep to get ready for the big season bearing down on us Saturday (it’s almost here!), the short season (a HUGE thank you to our early crowd… always a blast!), and trips out to the central flyway.  One of the highlights of our year is to start the season by heading out west to see lots of great old friends and make fantastic new ones… A part of the country where the scenery is breath taking, the duck activity unbelievable, and the people incredible.  A piece of true America…Faith, Family, and Community are forefront and the friends are priceless.  We are always so thankful to get back there and spend some time.   And now back to business….We’re geared up and ready to get to it this season!  The weather is ducky and the birds are flying… can’t wait to see everyone!

Ducks and Fish :)

Just a quick update… we are neck deep in duck season so pictures will be a bit scarce until the end of January 🙂  A big thank you to everyone so far and the best is yet to come!!  We can’t wait to see everyone this season!!  We did manage to sneak out for an offshore trip on Sunday… teaming up with Rigged Up and getting into the wahoo and tiles!  Great job to Martin and Chris… a bit sporty out there but well worth all the effort – Pretty Work guys!!  Thank you Charles..Awesome Trip!!!

NC State Duck Calling Championship

Down in New Bern today judging the NC State duck calling contest..Set up a booth as well and sold a few calls and booked some early season duck hunts..The picture with the three guys are myself Steve Earley and Mike Evans.We are all from the same hometown and combined have 9 state championships between us!!Pretty awesome for some Redneck boys from nowhere!Congrats to mike for taking top honors this year in state and second place Pamlico regional.North Eastern NC boys representing..

Youth Days 2013 :)

We had the honor of being able to take several fine young people out to share the beauty of mother nature and the waterfowl of our area.  A huge thank you to all of our young hunters and also their families for allowing us to participate in fostering a growing appreciation for wildlife and the outdoors in our youth.  It is tremendously rewarding to see members of the next generation becoming involved in activities so often replaced by ipods and cell phones… Thank you again and Congratulations to everyone on a fantastic job!!!

The Season draws to a close…

Another season is behind us… bitter sweet as always.  We are so fortunate to have so many guys that are not simply our hunters but are true and special friends.  We get so use to seeing you during the season and we truly miss your company once the season is done.  Thank you so much to everyone!  This year proved to be an exciting and challenging one… 70 degree weather and crazy winds… all to wrap up with welcomed shifts in temperature and wind direction.  Despite mother nature the hunting was great and the time spent even better!  We are already planning and looking forward to 2013-2014… Can’t wait to see everyone again!!
