The seasons are changing…

This is the time of year that there is so much to do and so much to appreciate!  True Carolina Blue skies show up as the humidity starts to drop and the nights cool down.  The breeze during the day has a different feel to it… change is in the air!  FISHING is phenomenal with the continuation of our epic late summer/early fall WHITE MARLIN bite and awesome nearshore fishing – the COBIA never disappeared… just dwindled a bit and are now showing back up as they start to move back out of the bay… not to mention the MACKEREL and BLUEFISH action.  Even the TUNA are around Offshore!!  With the kids back in school and the tourist numbers slowing down, the Fistful boat is not run quite so hard… she gets a day off here and there which means we get to spend more time to the west… hello tractor work!  More mowing and draining, spraying and
planting… prepping for the fast approaching waterfowl season 🙂  We had a flock of BLUEWINGS (teal) show up already to usher in September.   Time to confirm dates for the 2013 – 2014 hunting season and get in on the fall fishing action before it slows down!!  We can’t wait to see everybody!!

Tuna Trip

With the fantastic weather we couldn’t stay at the dock on a day off…. hard not to take advantage of such incredible conditions!!  We chose meat over glory for this trip… headed out in search of the TUNA bite!  A moderate class of fish today but great action!!  Yellowfin, Blackfin, and incredible purple topside to a bonita (cool to see!)   Slick calm offshore and skirted a waterspout twisting just inland of the bridge… always a great time on the water 🙂  Thanks Mike and Casey!!!

Catching up

The White Marlin Bite continues to be off the hook!!  We were able to slip out and join the offshore boats last week to get into the action before it all comes to an end for the season… we are always so thankful to be able to get out there on the rare occasion of a “day off”!  The “double header” was the excitement for that day with Karl maneuvering the Fistful around to help the girls land both fish… we had one off the stern and one off the bow and what a dance it was!  Don’t know how he does it… 🙂  Congratulations to Lexi on her first ever white marlin!!  Back to the nearshore action for the last several days… the Mackerel and Bluefish have been biting well outside the inlet and the Cobia are still around!  We’ve had a few trips that stayed inside and had great action on Spot, Flounder, Sea Mullet, and more!!  Fall is in the air… it’s a great time to go fishing!!
