COBIA COBIA COBIA!!!

The COBIA are here!! We have had an incredible week with these awesome fish!!  Thank you so much to all our groups… so much fun!!

 

The cobia fishing has been phenomenal so far with several days catching and releasing dozens after we get our limit… we are part of the North Carolina tagging program which provides information as to what our Cobia population is doing – this gives us a great opportunity to see multiple fish up close while contributing to their continued well being.  We still have a few days left open the last 2 weeks of June but they are filling fast…. Give us a call if you have any interest before these fish move north!

    

Goodbye Turkeys… Hello COBIA!!!

Fishing Season has Officially begun and the COBIA are here to kick it off right!!! 

 

We wrapped up another phenomenal turkey season thanks to all our crew!!  There is nothing quite like Spring in the woods and to be able to share all we treasure with great friends and family is beyond words…. Non-stop back porch stories, delicious meals right off the grill, fun and fellowship and simple appreciation of what mother nature offers us all every day – we can’t say Thank You enough to everyone.

 

On to the COBIA!!  These fantastic fish are on the move and coming up the coast fast – fishing as been off the hook this week and the weather has cooperated despite the forecast (a true testament to NEVER fully believe the weather forecast on the Outer Banks…. the dart board technique is alive and well!)

 

Near future Dates available at this time are: May 21 and 22, 28, 31, and June 1. Some scattered dates are still open the last 2 weeks of June.  Don’t miss out on this fishery… our Cobia will often move out by July so give us a call soon if you want to target these fish!  In other news further off the beach – the DOLPHIN (MAHI MAHI) are showing up, the boys got into the TILEFISH already, and the TUNA are still biting!  Let’s go fishing!

 

 

  

The Billfish have arrived!

The last 10 days have been wide open with the Tournament (What an awesome good time!!!! A HUGE thank you to our team – Glenn, Wes, Davis – you guys are fantastic and so much fun – way to go!!!) and our charters – great weather and great fishing!!  A special congratulations to Connor on his first Sailfish (Go kiddo!!) and of course no pictures – but awesome work to Joe for the 6 1/2 hour fight with the Blue Marlin of a lifetime – estimates are over 800 pounds – she ate a 60 pound yellowfin tuna like it was a grape and pulled the boys almost 13 miles east before she decided she was done with us and snapped the line!! What an experience and wow what a tale!!  Needless to say – The billfish are here – Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Sails oh my!  We have openings but they are filling up… give us a call if you want to get out there before these amazing creatures move on for the winter!  Our nearshore trips are happening as well – Spanish and bluefish and tons of bottom fish – lots of fun and yummy too!  Let’s go fishing!!

July Fishing!

The last week has been full with half and 3/4 day trips – So much fun for everybody!!  The Red Drum have shown up to provide tons of Catch and Release action, the Spanish and King Mackerel fishing has been awesome, the Amberjacks gave one of our regular crews a great workout (no more gym before fishing next time Keith!!) and we’ve even seen a few dolphin on the short trips!  We got to take several fantastic youth anglers and had a blast with all our groups – thank you so much!!  One quick peek at some green and yellow starting to come together for fall… the next season will be here before we know it but until then it’s time to get on the water and catch em up!  Thanks again everybody!!

 

      

Happy 4th of July!!

It’s hard to believe we are already moving into July… so far the summer has been fantastic and the fishing incredible!  Tuna, Dolphin, King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, Sea Bass and more… Thank you so much to all of our groups and a huge bucket of appreciation to Jim, Tom, Kelly, Dave, and all the crew getting us through an unexpected quick haul out – you guys are amazing and we would be lost without you… You have no idea how much we appreciate you! Thank you  🙂

Late Summer Great Fishing!

The last 2 weeks have been full of great fishing and amazing charters!  We have had a number of young anglers lately and what an impressive display of ability and enthusiasm from all of them – Every one of our kids jumped right into the fray and man… you can’t slow them down.  Some are new to the game and some are already well on their way to becoming pros (B. Boys – you know who you are!!) – Awesome job everybody!! One of our goals is to create an experience for them (and their adults) that will turn into a life-long passion… it really gets your heart fired up to see that spark.  Thank you so much to all our groups – Grown-Ups and Youngsters!  *** A huge Thank You goes out to Capt. Jim on the HogWild and Capt. Troy on the Fowl Hooked for helping us juggle some of our groups during our unexpected quickie haul out and to all the gang down at Bluewater for pulling together and getting us up and running again – JP – we owe you… as usual!! Thank you so much…. I wish I could have seen you on that lift!! ***

 

Last but not least – we do have some days open for the next few weeks – the Fistful gets a break starting September 17th this year so let us know if you want to get out there before we turn to the ducks!  The Billfish are starting to show… the dolphin are here on the Full Day trips… the Big Drum are hanging around… the Mackerel are snappin… the blues are snappin…the Jacks are snappin… the weather is beautiful… Let’s go Fishing!!

Summertime Rolls On!

Fishing continues to be awesome!!  Variety is still the theme song for this week… Dolphin, Moons, Triggers, Albecore, Tiles, Mackerels, Blues, Jacks, and one of our all time favs…. it’s it’s it’s the Drum!!  Every trip is different and we are so thankful for the wonderful weather and fantastic groups!  Some of our fine young anglers were able to get into the big Red Drum for some catch and release action and we hope their experience was one to keep them addicted for life!  We stumbled across a few lost Mahi that wondered in close to beach and were able to land them on a short trip – it doesn’t happen often at all but super cool when it does.  Tons of nearshore action continues with the Spanish, Blues, and Moons… smaller fish that are so much fun!  A huge thank you to Corey of the Corey Schaible Gallery for diving in and snapping an amazing pic of the Fistful on a full day trip… fitting to have the Amberjack on the way up in the shot!  Thank you so much.  And a major shout out to all the gang at the PC Fish Cleaning House – you do an amazing job and everybody remember – DFTTYFC!! 🙂  Lastly – this coming week is the 33rd annual Pirate’s Cove Billfish Tournament – a huge amount of activity will be happening all week up and down the docks – come see the boats and the fish and join in the fun!  Let’s go fishing!!

Moving on into August!

One of the really cool things about moving into later summer fishing is the huge variety of fish and the constant change from day to day… you never know what you are going to catch!  We have had some phenomenal action and we can’t say enough about our groups – once again… YOU make our jobs so fun!!  Great folks and good times is what it is all about – thank you so much everybody!  Dawn – the pictures are great! (Thank you!!)   Big Jack – We can’t thank you enough for everything you do for us 🙂  We have some spots still available for the next week… let’s go fishing!!

Summer fishing is fantastic!

As we roll on with our summer season the fishing continues to be so exciting! The king mackerel have shown up, the big red drum are here, our amberjacks are still super spunky and the dolphin are moving in!  Don’t forget about the Spanish and Blues – smaller fish and so much action and fun! (not to mention delicious!)  Several of our local youngsters (including our little angler) participated in the annual Pirate’s Cove Small Fry tournament (Thank you Troy for taking the gang and Awesome work Nikki for a fantastic turn out!) and caught Spanish, Blues, Croaker, Spot, Spade fish, and more…  keeping the kids into it is so important and we are very proud to be part of a community that supports our industry and our passion.  We have some openings left next week for a few 4 hour trips and (1) 6 hour trip – give us a call… let’s go fishing!

Happy 4th!

Unbelievable that it is already July!  A great time to stop and remember what a privilege it is to live in a free country and appreciate all the sacrifices that so many have made and continue to make in order to make what we do possible.  The summer is in full swing and the fishing continues to be awesome – fantastic variety!  Our weather was a little sporty for a couple of days but that didn’t slow anything down – dolphin, jacks, mackerel , blues, triggers, cobia, a barracuda, a sail, and more… Thank you so much to all our groups – you make our days!
