Spring Rock

It seemed like winter would never loosen her grip on North Carolina but she finally has backed off a bit… and just in time!  Spring time is Rockfish time and we have had several fantastic groups that braved the chilly “pre-spring” weather to target these super fun fish…. Thanks to everyone!!!

Spring Haul Out

The Fistful is up for a quick spring haul out… getting ready for this year’s season!!  New zincs, some clean up, and a little wax and she’ll be back in the water ready to go 🙂  The days are getting longer and the warm summer fishing season is fast approaching… We are saving days already – give us a shout if you know your desired dates and we’ll get you on the book!  Thanks to everyone for all the support!!  We are looking forward to another awesome season with everybody!!

More sound fun…

What a nice family today… way to go everybody!!  Pretty work getting these fish to the boat…Thank you so much for fishing with us and we hope to see you next time you come to the Outer Banks!

Great job guys!

Thanks for the pics!! What a great day 🙂 Hope to see you guys (and Angie!) again soon!

Great Sound Rock fishing!

Karl had a fantastic group this go…. Dwight, Reggie, Jimmy – thank you so much!!  It’s always a blast to have great folks on the boat!!  Plenty of action, a limit of nice fish to take home, plus a little “surgery” makes for a fun day!! (Ha!)  Angie – it was wonderful to see you again!!  Hope your trip back was nice and relaxing 🙂  Send some pics if you get the chance and I’ll get them posted… hope to see you guys again soon!!

Spring is almost here!!

It sounds a little silly to say “almost here” with the wonderful weather we have had this winter.  Early spring is proving to shape up just as nice!!  The sound rockfish are biting and it’s a fantastic excuse to get the whole family out on the water… 4 year old daughter Abbie has been practicing hard and has now mastered casting a spinning reel… She is moving on to tell Karl exactly where to go to find the fish these days!! 🙂  Don’t forget…Spring Turkey season is right around the corner… less than a month away!  This is yet another favorite time of the year – a wonderful time to be on the boat and in the woods!  Looking for to seeing everybody this spring!!!

Winter Rockfish

Looks like the fish are going to stay to the north this year with the crazy (yet wonderful) warm weather!  We are still watching the schools… let us know if there is any interest before they head back out of range 🙂

Winter Rockfish…

It’s never too early to start thinking about the upcoming rockfish season… it’ll be here before we know it!!  We’ll be watching this year’s migration as the fall progresses… hopefully these impressive fish will show up a little early – just like last year!  Typically we start to see them around the first of the year… it was December in 2010 so you never know… We are saving dates for folks already – anyone interested please let us know so we can put you on the calender!!

Upcoming Action

With summer still in full force we forget about all the fun the winter time offers on the outer banks..Ocean run stripers were here in full force last year and we expect another great run this year..They generally arrive the first week of Jan and thats really when we start to target them..In January  I will be busy duck hunting  and captain Ernest Doshier of GECKO sportfishing in Ocracoke will be running the FISTFUL..geckosportfishing.com.Ernie is great and will put you in the meat…In Feb I will be back ..We have plenty of dates open but weekends are starting to fill up…One thing we do offer is a complete lodging package..Our lodging is provided a stones throw away from the boat soundfront with spectacular winter sunsets over pirates cove marina we can also arrange meals.Lodging is an additional $100 per night. Its a fun way to spend a couple of days for a little winter time fishing..Full day trips only.. $975 for the day..If we have to travel an extended length to get to the fish we may add a fuel surcharge of up to $150 may be added.GIVE US A CALL …

July 16th

The bluefish continue to dominate the nearshore waters surrounding the inlet for our half days..Multiple fish on at the time are common problems and lots of action for all of our anglers..What they lack in size they make up for in  rod bending action which is great for kids of all ages..A half day is about getting out on the water, enjoying the beauty of the ocean and the outer banks..Its not about catching blue marlins , tunas , and mahi. Its about good times with friends and family..Thats what we like to see..
