Youth Day!

We had 3 fantastic young men today… It is such a joy to see our youngsters love the outdoors!  One responsive gobbler was chased off by a 300 pound black bear who wandered into the hunt, obviously curious about the call and determined to check everybody out up close… a fantastic sight to see (although a little unnerving!) but not very conducive for a successful hunt 🙂  Lots of turkeys around and very active during this warm spring!!    Congratulations to Daniel for getting this great bird… Jimmy and Bobby – no worries… the season has just begun!  Thank you every body for a wonderful start to spring turkeys!!

Quick Update…

Despite the warm weather the hunting has been good!! It requires alot more homework, scouting, very little sleep, and careful reading of the ducks’ “plan” but all the hard work pays off… and the cold weather is coming!! We have been so fortunate to have several fantastic groups with us as usual… we appreciate all the support and always have a ball with all you guys!  Thank you so much everybody 🙂  We are looking forward to continuing another great season and we’ll get more pictures posted when the season is over!  (Not to switch gears yet but… we’re also keeping an eye on the Rockfish situation – looks like they have arrived at Rudee Inlet and are moving this way… gettin close to that time of the year when we get back on the water!)

First main season closes… getting ready for the next go!

Thank you so much to everyone for an awesome start to this year’s season!! We appreciate you all so much and are eagerly awaiting the next opening day… It’s almost here!!

This one’s for Sims….

It’s always so much fun to see people you truely enjoy being around… Gordon – thank you so much!!  (I’ll make sure the green bean cassarole gets on the menu again for next time!!)  I couldn’t resist posting this picture…that was just too funny!  Sorry Sims 🙂

In the timber…

Sorry about the report delay… This time of the year we spend alot of time running around between the beach, the woods, swamp, timber, open water locations… and the list goes on!!   Jimmy… congratulations on a fine hunt!! Crazy action in the timber requires great shooting – fantastic job!!  Jim and Jamie… always a blast!! (I can’t believe I missed the steak dinner… again!!)  Thank you so much..See you guys soon!!

Continued Prep…

As Duck Season draws closer… the repair work from Irene is finally winding down… Trees to clear out of the swamps and blinds to be rebuilt – all in a day’s work!  Saturday is the big day and we are all looking forward to a great season!  Tons of ducks around already and the winds are turning out of the North… a true sign of things to come!

Changing gears…

Fishing reports are usually a little slim from the Fistful boat this time of year as we switch gears for the upcoming Duck Season (opens November 12!!).  We are still running trips both nearshore and offshore as we prepare for the Ducks… Fall is an awesome time to go!!  As for the waterfowl… we are watching the migration and there are great reports from up north pertaining to this year’s hatch… the ducks are on the move!!  We have a some scattered openings left with Karl plus several days available to put you with partnering guides… flooded timber, marsh, open water, you name it – it’s a blast!!

Pretty Work Jimmy!

Reports have been slim the last week due to a last minute trip to kick off the up-coming duck season… what a blast!! I’ll post pictures from the trip as soon as I get them loaded… hopefully the pictures will relieve everybody as much as it did us to see the number of ducks in their first leg of the migration – unbelievable action in an absolutely great  location with good friends and fellow hunters at the X!!! (ha!)  Happy to see we had a great hatch of ducks this year and very thankful for all the good lord has given us..The outdoors in any venture is something to be respected, valued, and appreciated. Don’t forget that the most important thing is experiencing what is right in front of you and we like it when they are right in front of you…The truest form..

We did make it back just in time for Karl to get out with Jim and Jimmy for a little short season timber action this morning… we are always so thankful to get to spend time with good friends… no matter where we are!  Jimmy marched through the swamp like a pro with Dad tracking close behind and worked hard to bag this beautiful pair of Wood Ducks… the drake was in full plumage – what a gorgeous sight to see!  Nice work!!!  Awesome way to kick off the 2011/2012 season kiddo… Congratulations!!!!!

SEPTEMBER 15TH full day nearshore

We had Kevin , Kim , Greg , Michael , Travis , and Charlie on the boat with us today. We set out just outside the 20 mile mark and worked down a sulfur line with some pretty places of grass in it..Never found a load of dolphins to bail but did have constant trolling bites all day.Several nice gaffers , baffers , and bailers made up our dolphin catch. We were struck by the albacores several times as well and they are a great fight on small 20 lb class outfits..Beautiful weather and great people allways make for an increadable day..Thank you guys so much for the day of fishing.

PM Dove Hunt…

We had a break this afternoon and dove season is in… there’s no better way to spend Labor Day afternoon than with friends and family!
