Spring Cleaning

It finally feels like spring time! The Fistful is out of the water for a few days… a little bottom paint, some wax, and a few maintenance chores and we will be ready to head south to Hatteras… Our days are starting to fill up with Offshore (Full day) and Nearshore (Half, 3/4, and Full Day) Trips… “Dracula can see his reflection on her”

Spring and Summer on the way!

With all the cold weather hanging around it’s hard to believe spring will ever get here…but it’s on the way!! Spring time is HATTERAS time for the Fistful boat and we are getting ready to head south in the next month for both OFFSHORE fishing in the Gulf Stream (Chasing DOLPHIN, TUNA, WAHOO, BLUES and WHITES and SAILS and more!) and NEARSHORE trips (for SPANISH MACKERAL, KING MACKERAL, BLUEFISH, and everything else close to the beach!)… our trips in the spring are run out of Hatteras Inlet and we typically stay until the first week of June before heading back to Pirate’s Cove for the Summer rush… In the mean time… we are currently running trips as hard as we can on our 23 Maycraft for the INSHORE SOUND ROCKFISH…  Tons of fun on light tackle and lots of fish everywhere!!  Please don’t hesitate to call or email us for more information on any of our upcoming trips…Inshore, Nearshore, and to the gulf stream!

In the box

Commercial day for us this time…Plenty of dolphin and some tuna as well.  Pretty day!

Dolphin!

The dolphin showed up in droves this day… always great action and incredible eating!  This is a fish we never get tired of seeing (or catching!)  Almost always plentiful somewhere in the warm waters of summer off our coast, these fish are amazingly athletic and can show up in schools numbering in the hundreds behind the boat.  Bailer size fish were the norm for us this season with several nice gaffers thrown in the mix.  Our trips departing both Hatteras and Oregon Inlets saw plenty of these guys all summer… always a great time!

Outer Banks Catch

Outer Banks Catch! This entire hook and line caught North Carolina fresh fish went to Kelly’s Restaurant on the Outer Banks. Thank you so much Mike for all your support… you keep local fisherman in business even when we don’t have charters and you are a model for others to follow by providing your customers with true, fresh, wild caught North Carolina seafood! This is what the Fistful does when we are not charter fishing… thanks to everybody that supports “Outer Banks Catch”!

Dolphin Day: Hatteras NC

Peggy… you guys get the trophy for toughing out a not-so-pretty day to bring home dinner. A definite adventure start to finish… thank you so much for a wonderful day! Patrick… I can’t believe you are so grown up wow… I know your mom is proud of you 🙂 Good luck at UNC Katie! It was so nice meeting the rest of you guys – hope to see you back later in the year!… and peg – this was GREAT practice for rock season!! 🙂 Thanks again!

Tough Dolphin Day: Hatteras NC

Total washout! We managed to scrape out a few dolphin despite awful weather and nasty sea conditions. Great job guys (and Donna!) for being so tough and working so hard for this catch!

Marlin and Dolphin: Hatteras NC

What an amazing day! Thanks so much to Dave, Tom, John, and Eddie for a great day on the water. The gang had the box full of dolphin when a nice blue one showed up at the back of the boat to swallow a dink bait on a TLD 30 with 50 pound test… John wrestled her for 2 1/2 hours before the release! Can’t wait til you guys come back!
