As we roll through June our fishing here on the Outer Banks continues to be super hot and crazy fun! Mackeral, Blues, Amberjack, Cobia, Dolphin, Sharks, Triggers, and more!!… we are so thankful for great fish and even better folks!! Thank you so much to everyone!!

Happy Memorial Day weekend to everyone! This is the official kick off to our summer season and we are so happy to be back at it! We are in full swing after some weather days last week and the fishing has been awesome. Our Cobia season is now open until September 30th with a 4 fish boat limit everyday (A huge thank you to a few local heroes for their enormous time and effort in fighting to stop the season closure)… the dolphin have been snapping and the Cobia are showing… we even got into a nice Spanish bite on a quickie fun family trip late one afternoon (plus the kiddo’s first nice Cobia… Thank you Casey and Louie!!). Thanks so much to all our early groups for cranking up the season start with a ton of fun and great fish!! June is filling fast so give us a shout… let’s go fishing 🙂
COBIA: The summer is fast approaching and we are booking up quickly for the May/June Cobia season. Due to changes made by the North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries and the Southeast Fisheries Management Council… the NORTH CAROLINA COBIA SEASON WILL CLOSE ON JUNE 20 TH. We can catch and release these fish after the 20th but cannot keep them… if you are interested in booking a trip specifically for COBIA please give us a call asap – these trips are going fast and we only have a few spots left each month. (Cobia Update: the regulations have changed again due to a ton of time and effort by a few local advocates… the COBIA season will run until September 30th with a 4 boat limit everyday for charter boats… NO CLOSURE until the end of September)
ROCKFISH: We are currently running our Spring Sound Rock trips now as these fish are starting to show… these trips are river/sound trips and are run on our 23 foot Maycraft Center Console. We do have a few spot
s left for these trips as well…
BOAT: The Fistful is getting a spring tune-up and we are in the process of completely remodeling the salon – we are excited to give her a brand new look for the upcoming season!

It’s time again to change gears… what an incredible season we have had! A huge thank you again to all our anglers – you truly make what we do so special. Another enormous Thank You to Captain Richie Howell for jumping in to finish out the season while Karl was in recovery mode the last 10 days… you made it a little easier to keep him on the couch knowing you were on the bridge. Casey – always much love and appreciation for all you do! We couldn’t do it without you 🙂 The Fistful is getting a break until after duck season – we will all be busy with the birds until the end of January. Keep up with all the excitement through our Facebook page over the next few months and we will see everyone back on the water next season!! Thanks again everybody!
Crazy that August is already here!! Our dolphin (Mahi Mahi) fishing has been unreal the end of July/first of August… It’s just not suppose to happen on short day trips but our 1/2’s and 3/4’s are getting into action that normally you have to run 30 miles offshore to get. We are so thankful when Neptune helps us out a bit and sends that warm Gulf Stream water close enough for us to get our hands (and hooks!) on these wonderful fish! Thank you so much to all our groups!! Friday afternoon (the 8th) just opened up if anyone is interested and we have a few spots available next week – Give us a call…Let’s go fishing!!
We have had a fantastic JULY so far!! A huge thank you to everyone! Fishing is a blast but it’s our anglers that really make the trips…. thank you so much 🙂 So far July has been filled with a mixed bag of Cobia, Amberjack, Red Drum, Spanish, Kings and Blues, Barracuda, Wahoo, Dolphin and more! We are excited to see what mid-summer brings as we continue to roll on… we have some scattered days left in July and August is starting to book up – Give us a call… Let’s go fishing!!
We have had an unbelievably eventful winter and spring and now summer is here! We are so proud and thankful to be able to kick off this fishing season with our newest edition – our new FISTFUL boat! She’s a 45 foot Alex Willis (a carolina boat custom built in Harker’s Island). We were sad to see our original girl go on to other adventures but at the same time we are super excited to have this opportunity and get this year’s fishing started! We are running the same trips… just with more comfort and room! The Cobia are here… we have a few days left in June open so give us a call if you are ready to go. Can’t wait to see everyone!
Set out this afternoon 50 miles from where we were this morning with my fishing partner. A very nice class and sign of rock in the chowan. Love watching my boo getem.
This pair of famous people joined me yesterday afternoon and this morning rock fishing on the Albemarle..Casting bight was strong. .A box full and plenty of catch and release and a tagged fish kicker with a cool story.We have next Wednesday and Friday available if any one is up for some great light tackle action.
