Mahi Mahi has been the main course for us this past week… we had a few weather days and then a super nice class of fish with several citations!!! CONGRATULATIONS and a huge thank you to everybody!!! Lots of bill fish sightings and the TUNA are still around as well plus our first token Barracuda!! (Ceviche time!). A big shout out to our young anglers as well… it is tons of fun having the kids with us and getting the next generation hooked on this craziness is one of our passions! Give us a shout… it’s time to fish!
It’s that time of year yet again…. Let’s go fishing!!! Turkey season was phenomenal – thank you so much everybody!!! The first 10 days of this year have been full of fun, fish, fishing touches on the boat update, silly weather, and awesome groups! Thank you to everyone that helped us kick off this fishing season with a blast! TUNA, DOLPHIN, COBIA, WAHOO, and a few BILLFISH already!! It’s that time of year again!! Another Thank You to all of our anglers for a fantastic fishing season!!! We wrapped up October with a few final Tuna trips, an awesome short duck season (quickie 4 days in October), a last minute trip out west to get our minds right for feathers, and final (never ending lol) prep for the DUCKS!!! The November season has started and will wrap up after Thanksgiving… then the big season is here!! A huge Thank You to our groups so far – always a blast and always so much fun to kick off waterfowl season with you guys! We will be back to fishing in the Spring… Remember inland fishing for ROCKFISH cranks up in the Spring and we will start chasing COBIA in May!! Happy November to all!!!
Our hot summer months have slipped into cool Fall mornings, crisp Carolina blue skies, and continued awesome fishing! The weather kept the Fistful at the dock several days the last month (definitely a sign of fall!) but that just gave us a good excuse to get some work done on our renovation projects for the lodge (Thank you Brandon and KB for all the help!!) and slip out for some of the BIG Red Drum!! (Pretty work E and Congratulations to Chip and the boys!!!!!) As October approaches we look forward to more consistency from mother nature and are already seeing our tuna show! This is also the time of year we begin our transition into waterfowl season… Geese and Teal for September with Duck Season soon to follow! A bittersweet time… we hate to stable the Fistful but are so excited for the next season!!! We will be fishing through much of October and have some days open for anyone looking to get out there!… The Blackfin tuna are here and the Yellowfin are typically close behind. Give us a call!!
Quick catch up! The summary is Awesome fishing and Awesome groups!! Between a website re-do, boat swapping/upgrading, and a thankful near miss with the last hurricane – I have totally fallen behind on fishing report updating. Many apologies and hopefully I’ll get this one right so it stays put! Offshore trips have found billfish, tiles, dolphin and still some tuna! Nearshore adventures are finding ribbons, mackeral, bluefish, albecore and more. Tournament week wrapped up Friday with phenomenal billfish catches and a fantastic showing of local talent!! (Congratulations everybody!!) The Alice Kelly Memorial event was a success as always and pretty work to all the ladies!! Go girls!! This summer has been a ton of fun so far and still lots more to come… Thank you so much to all our groups… you all make what we do so fun and tremendously rewarding! We have August 24 and 28 still open and several options in September – Let’s go fishing!!!
What an amazing start to this season!! TUNA has been the talk of the town for OFFSHORE trips plus MAHI MAHI and even some BILLFISH already! NEARSHORE trips are finding Spanish Mackeral, Kings, Bluefish, and the forever favorite COBIA!! A huge THANK YOU to all our anglers – as always you make our job so much fun!! Plus a giant CONGRATULATIONS to all of our Junior Anglers!! Awesome kids with tough arms, tons of heart, and already addicted to fins!! Welcome back to all our visitors! Our season has kicked off with a great start… thanks everybody!! We have a couple of weather days ahead of us but then will be back at as soon as the winds and seas settle…. We are full the rest of May but have days open starting June 3rd – Save your spot!! Let’s go fishing!!!
It’s official – The Outer Banks will be open to ALL visitors starting Saturday May 16th at 12:01 am! We are so excited to be opening our doors to all of our visitors… we hope everyone is safe and healthy and we are looking forward to getting back on the water. We have the 27th and 28th still available in May and more options in June for anyone looking to get out there in the near future. Offshore fishing continues to be fantastic and the Cobia are set to show any day now! Give us a call to save your day or if anyone has any questions during this crazy time… Most of our restaurants are open for take and/or delivery (and need all of our support now more than ever!) and our area is actively practicing social distancing plus sporting PPE in our groceries, pharmacies, and other retail establishments where distancing may be difficult (so bring your favorite fishing buff – it’s dual purpose now!). Please keep in mind that essential supplies (such as the ever elusive toilet paper and paper towels) are still limited and bringing as many of these items as you can with you is recommended. HOT weather and HOT fishing!! Offshore and Nearshore trips have both been fantastic… super fun groups and a ton of action! Looks like mother nature is going to give us a little break from the insane heat and get down right pleasant… the perfect time to get out there.
